Transforming Lives Through Inclusive Healthcare

Behind every number is a child, a family and a community whose future has been changed through access to healthcare and rehabilitation.

Since its establishment, Bienfait Rwanda has worked to ensure that children with disabilities living in remote areas can access services that are often unavailable or unaffordable.

Our impact extends far beyond individual treatment sessions. By strengthening families, building local capacity, and improving access to healthcare, we create lasting change that continues long after our teams have left a community.

What We Have Achieved

Community-Based Rehabilitation

Hundreds of children have received physiotherapy, rehabilitation and follow-up care directly in their communities, reducing the need for costly and difficult travel.

Assistive Devices

Children have received orthoses, wheelchairs, standing frames, walkers and other assistive devices that improve mobility, independence and participation in daily life.

Eye Health Services

Children and adults in rural communities have gained access to eye examinations, treatment and referrals that help prevent avoidable visual impairment and blindness.

Social Protection

Through our Social Fund, vulnerable families receive support that helps them meet essential needs such as health insurance, nutrition, education and income-generating opportunities.

Capacity Building

Community Health Workers, nurses, caregivers and local leaders receive training that enables them to identify disabilities early, support rehabilitation at home and promote inclusion.

A Child’s Journey

Many children first meet any kind of medical intervention or support when our outreach teams visit their village.

They may have never received a medical assessment. Some have never attended school because of mobility challenges. Others have lived with untreated conditions for years.

Our team assesses the child’s needs, develops a rehabilitation plan, trains caregivers, provides assistive devices when needed, and connects the family with additional services.

Over time, children gain strength, mobility, confidence and greater opportunities to participate in school and community life.

This journey is only possible because of the support of our partners, donors and community members.
